9GHoles

9GHoles offers foot golf, a cross between midget golf and football. The idea is to shoot a football in the ‘hole’ with as few shots as possible.

The holes are spread over 9 courses across a meadow. The foot golf courses contain as many natural obstacles as possible, such as hay bales, sand piles, wood but also car tyres, that determine the difficulty of the course.
Besides a 9-hole ‘foot golf course’, 9Gholes has a (foot) volley pitch and a small football pitch with miniature goals where football matches can be played. Of course there’s a cosy chalet with a terrace (free Wi-Fi) where you can have something to eat and drink. So you don’t have to play a game, you can simply enjoy the view of the countryside from our terrace!
To sum up: 9Gholes, in the rural surroundings of Amsterdam, in the middle of the meadows and numerous ditches so typical of Waterland, is a unique experience.

Bram en Aagie

In the typically Dutch village of Graft, just above Amsterdam, opposite the beautiful Town Hall, you find the nostalgic Smallest Shop the Netherlands.

Hardly anything has changed in the little shop: the counter and the rest of the interior date back to the year it was built: 1890.
From behind the counter, first bread, later vegetables and until 1985 cigars and cigarettes were sold by Bram and Aagje (commonly called Aagie) van Petten. The shop proudly bears their name. At the door there’s an old antique bread cart where Bram still sells bread.
The shop’s wares include a rich assortment of real, old Dutch candy such as ulevellen, stroopsoldaatjes and druivesuiker. Here, you can also book a tour with the Smallest Touring Boat in the Netherlands.
Want to take a trip back in time …… ? Then drop by!

Between 1883-1902, C. Joh. Kieviet taught at this little old school. In the adjoining teacher’s house, he wrote his first book about Dik Trom the scallywag with the big heart.

Just as in the past, the little school only has one classroom. The old school desks, potbelly stove, nostalgic blackboard and clogs under the coat rack, take you back in time.
In the large bookcase, apart from the various publications of Dik Trom books, you find many more C. Joh. Kieviet books. In addition, the Children’s Book Museum collection also includes children’s books from before 1940.
Besides the permanent collection there is a continuously changing exhibition.
Children are allowed to dress up as Ot and Sien in clogs. If they want, they can sit at one of the school desks and write with a fountain pen or with a pencil on a slate

Marken Express

Cycling in North Holland and Waterland: a wonderful experience. Be sure to cross over (one way) on the Volendam Marken Express! This way you get to see Volendam, the Gouwzee and Waterland from the water and do not have to cycle the same route twice.

Bikes can be brought aboard unrestricted. Of course you can book a return with the Volendam Marken Express, but we would advise you to visit the Paard van Marken, the wonderful lighthouse. And then to cycle or walk over the Zeedijk in the direction of Uitdam, Durgerdam or Monnickendam. On one side of the dyke you can see hundreds of birds bobbing in the Gouwzee basin, while at the same time cows and sheep graze in the meadows. This is the Nethelands at its most beautiful. And the Volendam Marken Express is happy to take you (and your bike) there.
